Job summary

Phoenix Operations Group seeks an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to support cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes-based environments, and automation in a mission-focused setting. The role emphasizes AWS, IaC, and CI/CD with Linux systems, requiring strong scripting and collaboration with software teams.

The position entails on-site work at Fort Belvoir, VA, with periodic travel, and demands a DoD 8140/8570-compliant certification or the ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI U.S. Government security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required due to security clearance requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years, or master’s with 7+ years, or high school with 13+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes or comparable container orchestration.
• Hands-on AWS experience (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda).
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and configuration-management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience deploying, scaling, managing, and troubleshooting apps, containers, and operating systems.
• Scripting in Python, Bash, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience with Git and modern development tools.
• Strong Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Understanding of Agile software development practices.
• Current DoD 8140/8570-compliant certification or ability to obtain within required timeframe after hire.
• Ability to work onsite at Fort Belvoir, VA, five days per week and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Develop, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS, focused on EKS.
• Support on-prem, edge, and portable infrastructure environments.
• Improve automated deployment processes for reliability and scalability.
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Kubernetes-based environments.
• Partner with software teams to integrate apps into cloud and infra environments.
• Monitor production systems and troubleshoot performance issues.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code and config management with Terraform and Ansible.
• Support CI/CD and automated software deployment.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux-based systems.
• Develop automation tooling using Python, Bash, or Go.
• Evaluate new technologies and suggest infra improvements.
• Support evolving mission requirements.
