Job summary

CACI International Inc. is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer focused on Observability and FinOps in Reston, VA. You will deploy and operate the observability stack, instrument apps with OpenTelemetry, and build real-time dashboards for operators and leadership.

The role requires strong Kubernetes/OpenShift skills, cloud cost management across AWS and on‑prem, and experience with Terraform/Ansible plus GitOps. You will mentor teammates and document runbooks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IT/SE or related field.
• 3+ years deploying and operating enterprise stacks: Grafana/Prometheus, Elastic, Dynatrace, or Splunk.
• Experience instrumenting metrics, logs, and traces with OpenTelemetry or Prometheus exporters.
• Hands-on Kubernetes/OpenShift production administration and alerting.
• 2+ years AWS (EC2, S3, EKS, IAM, Cost & Usage Reports) with cost optimization.
• Terraform and Ansible; Helm charts or Operators.
• Pipelines in GitLab CI/Jenkins; Git workflows.
• Proficient in Python or Go; SQL and PromQL ability.
• RHEL administration and DISA STIG hardening; RMF/NIST controls.
• Air-gapped or disconnected networks experience.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and operate observability stack on restricted networks.
• Instrument applications with OpenTelemetry and Prometheus exporters; standardize labels.
• Build real-time dashboards and health views for operators and leadership.
• Implement cost visibility and allocation across AWS, OpenShift, and on‑prem.
• Create cost and utilization dashboards using billing exports and metrics.
• Identify optimization opportunities: rightsizing, idle cleanup, lifecycle policies.
• Automate deployments with Terraform, Ansible; GitOps via Argo CD or similar.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and image scanning; promote into air-gapped registries.
• Develop lightweight web apps, APIs, Grafana plugins; write data integration scripts.
• Document runbooks and training materials; mentor junior engineers.
