Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a DevOps Engineer to support the DOMEX Data Discovery Platform Modernization program in Bethesda, Maryland. This role involves design, deployment, and maintenance of a containerized microservices stack, plus DevOps, systems administration, installation and production support.

You will deploy and optimize a production big data pipeline with Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka; enhance CI/CD, automate workflows, and help design scalable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with ability to obtain a CI Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree with at least ten years of experience.
• DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, Security+ CE, SSCP, CISSP).
• Ability to obtain Privileged User Account certification per DoD 8570 policy.
• Experience with containers and container orchestration, specifically Kubernetes.
• Experience troubleshooting Kubernetes environments (Ingress/Gateway API, Helm, pod disruption budgets, affinity rules, external-secrets, ArgoCD, cert-manager, Elasticsearch).
• Experience developing GitLab pipelines (CI/CD, Code Quality, Code Coverage/Test reports).
• Knowledge of Linux operating systems and sysctls for Kubernetes environments.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, triage, and maintain a production big data pipeline using Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and Kafka.
• Enhance and maintain CI/CD and DevOps scripts to speed up development and resilience.
• Design, develop, and support scalable, redundant infrastructure (physical and virtual).
• Use Helm to configure Kubernetes deployments for new features.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers on feature design and requirements.
• Provide technical input to systems engineering docs and diagrams.
• Participate in Agile release planning and scrums.
