Job summary

Rocket Lab in Littleton, CO is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer I to build and operate the observability platform for mission-critical systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other technical discipline.
• 5+ years in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or related infrastructure discipline.
• Hands-on experience operating and improving production observability and monitoring platforms.
• Demonstrated AI/ML expertise with hands-on AI-driven automation systems.
• Experience with AWS and GCP cloud services.
• Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform and Git workflows.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and improve the observability stack (Grafana, Grafana Mimir, kube-prometheus-stack, Grafana Alloy).
• Design scalable metrics collection, ingestion, retention, and query patterns for Kubernetes and cloud workloads.
• Develop Grafana dashboards for engineering and leadership insights.
• Design and maintain alerting workflows to reduce noise and enable timely incident response.
• Partner with teams to define service-level indicators/objectives and monitoring standards.
• Improve observability by identifying telemetry gaps and durable instrumentation.
• Integrate AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail telemetry for visibility and security monitoring.
• Manage observability infra with Terraform, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive continuous improvement via data-driven analysis of reliability and alert effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot monitoring issues across AWS and GCP environments.
• Collaborate through code reviews and pipelines to bake observability in from the start.
• Design and implement AI agents to detect and troubleshoot testing failures.
• Build AI-powered quality automation for CI/CD across programs.
