Job summary

Rocket Lab Corporation is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer I to build, operate, and improve our observability platform. You will ensure health, performance, and reliability of mission-critical systems across AWS and GCP environments, driving instrumentation, dashboards, and alerting to empower engineering teams.

You will partner with Space Systems teams within our DevSecOps organization to enhance monitoring, incident response, and automation, leveraging Terraform and Git for scalable

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, platform engineering, or related infrastructure discipline.
• Hands-on experience operating and improving production observability and monitoring platforms.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI/ML technologies with hands-on experience building AI-driven automation systems.
• Experience with AWS and GCP cloud services.
• Experience managing infrastructure as code with Terraform and collaborating through Git-based workflows.
• U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and continuously improve the observability stack (Grafana, Grafana Mimir, kube-prometheus-stack, Grafana Alloy).
• Design scalable metrics collection for Kubernetes and cloud workloads.
• Develop Grafana dashboards for engineering and leadership.
• Design and maintain alerting and notification workflows to reduce noise and improve incident response.
• Define meaningful SLIs/SLAs and monitoring standards with engineering teams.
• Improve observability coverage by identifying telemetry gaps and implementing instrumentation.
• Integrate AWS CloudWatch and CloudTrail telemetry for visibility and security monitoring.
• Manage observability infrastructure with Terraform, Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Drive data-driven analysis of platform reliability, telemetry quality, dashboard adoption, and alert effectiveness.
