Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support our intel customer in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO.

You will drive faster, more reliable software delivery by strengthening automation and operational discipline across Dev and Ops, bridging teams for secure, scalable results. You’ll configure CI/CD, manage Infrastructure as Code, deploy on OpenShift/Kubernetes, and enhance observability and security.

Qualifications

• TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph; can sponsor.
• Minimum 6+ years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering or related field, or 2 extra years of IT experience.
• Proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Working experience with CI/CD pipelines (Gitlab, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar).
• Knowledge of OIDC/OAuth/Auth2 or similar zero-trust identity implementations.
• Experience with ArgoCD and GitOps style operations management.
• Experience with web server management (DNS, certificate management).
• Knowledge of HTTP API design standards and best practices.
• Ability to manage networking for web applications (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and OpenShift, with knowledge of AWS.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, OpenShift, CloudFormation, AWS CDK, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
• Knowledge of monitoring & logging and security for containers.
• Experience deploying and managing databases via SQL/ORMs.
• Comfortable writing Python and Bash for tooling.
• Ability to contribute code updates to existing repositories.
• Experience with software system design and architecture diagrams.
• Experience integrating security components with applications and databases.
• One or more technical certifications (Network+, Security+, CISSP, etc).
• Desirable: zero-downtime re-indexing, Elasticsearch in OpenShift/Kubernetes, observability tools (Prometheus, Loki, Grafana).
• Desirable: experience with Agile delivery and System Engineering management.

Responsibilities

• Configure CI/CD for multiple web applications.
• Build applications from source code and dependencies.
• Perform automated testing and security scans.
• Deploy to Dev, Staging, and Operations environments.
• Manage Infrastructure as Code and configuration management.
• Author Helm charts for OpenShift deployments.
• Maintain system security and document architecture for compliance.
• Design and implement enterprise solutions and complex systems.
• Experience in building and maintaining complex classified systems.
• Develop and apply advanced methods for solving software challenges.
• Ensure interoperability of hardware/software and run investigations/tests.
• Document technical findings and project progress for management and customers.
• Guide hardware engineers on storage, processing, and I/O needs.
• Prepare reports and present results to stakeholders.
