Job summary

Augustus is building a US team from the ground up while scaling a modern core banking platform. We seek a DevOps Engineer #3 to own infrastructure, automation, and reliability across AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD. You will work closely with engineering, security, and product to ship fast and safely in a banking environment.

You will design and automate end-to-end systems, drive major projects, and help shape the roadmap for scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure in Berlin or via relocation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in DevOps, SRE, Platform Engineering, or similar roles.
• Advanced hands-on experience with AWS (IAM, EC2, EKS, VPC, CloudWatch, etc.).
• Ability to design, debug, and operate production-grade Kubernetes environments.
• Strong experience with Terraform (modules, workspaces, complex architectures).
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or similar languages for automation and tooling.
• Experience designing and maintaining GitHub Actions - or comparable CI/CD systems.
• Familiarity with metrics, logging, distributed tracing, and incident response best practices.
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate - this is an in-person role.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate the platform that everything runs on — AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, observability, incident response.
• Own big projects and drive them autonomously, shaping the infrastructure roadmap.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and product teams to turn infrastructure into a competitive advantage.
• Design for failure and automate processes to raise the bar for production-grade reliability.
• Write backend tooling and automation to improve developer experience and uptime.
• Ensure production systems meet regulatory and security requirements in banking context.
