Job summary

Redwood Materials is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to design, build, and deploy infrastructure and applications in a hybrid AWS and Kubernetes environment. Responsibilities include automating deployments, monitoring, and collaborating on hybrid projects for scalable energy products.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in DevOps, strong Python, Docker, Linux, and production workload management, with solid AWS and Kubernetes experience and security discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar field.
• 3+ years as a DevOps engineer or in a related role in AWS.
• Hands-on Kubernetes deployment and operations experience.
• Solid AWS services knowledge: IAM, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, VPC, DynamoDB, etc.
• Kubernetes/containerization expertise: clusters, Helm, containers, Docker.
• Experience automating AWS with IaC tools (CDK, Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Fluent Python is strongly desired.
• Experience with Linux and Git.
• Understanding of security best practices in cloud environments.
• Experience with relational/non-relational databases a plus.
• Proven ability to manage production workloads (debugging, monitoring, alerting).

Responsibilities

• Leverage existing AWS architectures and design new ones using CDK to manage resources.
• Operationalize workloads in AWS and Kubernetes; design monitoring and deployment pipelines.
• Enhance build/test/deploy automation and pipelines.
• Collaborate with on-prem teams to drive hybrid infrastructure projects.
• Apply industry best practices in automation, security, and IaC.
• Perform root cause analysis of production issues and implement fixes.
• Document design and system architecture clearly.
