Job summary

HID Global in Cypress, CA is seeking a Senior Development Support Engineer to provide advanced development and product support for Mercury/HID OEM partners. The role requires troubleshooting across hardware, software, networking, and APIs, and involves guiding customers, documenting defects, and driving continuous improvement.

You will work with remote teams and partners, assist with API integrations, and contribute to technical workshops and trainings to ensure successful deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Ability to collaborate with remote teams across multiple time zones.
• Proficient in C/C++, C#, and/or Rust.
• Experience with HTTP, RESTful APIs, JSON, XML, and MQTT.
• Experience deploying and supporting applications on Linux and Windows.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking.
• Experience using diagnostic tools such as Wireshark, Postman, and curl.
• Knowledge of serial communication (RS-232/RS-485) and SSL/TLS.
• Strong written and spoken English communication; technical documentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with Windows and Linux OS; knowledge of HID/Mercury APIs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing second-level support for technical inquiries related to Mercury and HID products.
• Assisting developers with integration and implementation of APIs and related technologies.
• Troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and serial communication issues.
• Replicating customer-reported issues to identify root causes and support resolutions.
• Logging and documenting defects for engineering review and corrective action.
• Interfacing with partners and customers to understand technical requirements.
• Collaborating with engineering and quality teams to resolve product and integration issues.
• Educating partners on deployment, implementation, and integration best practices.
• Participating in planning events, workshops, and technical training sessions.
• Driving continuous improvement across support and engineering functions.
• Building strong relationships with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
• Contributing technical expertise to product enhancements and support processes.
• Assisting in knowledge-sharing and development of technical documentation.
