Our client is a community solar developer expanding access to clean energy through offsite projects—no rooftop panels needed. They specialize in developing solar installations up to 10 MW that enable households and businesses to participate in the renewable energy transition. With a Colorado-based, remote-friendly team, they’re reshaping how people access and benefit from sustainable power.

Role Overview

Our client is looking to hire a Senior Manager to drive the expansion of its Colorado community solar portfolio, managing projects from early-stage development through to construction readiness. This role requires deep experience across the full solar project lifecycle and the ability to lead tens of megawatts of new annual development. The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-focused leader ready to grow with a fast-scaling organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the progression of community solar initiatives in Colorado from site control through notice to proceed
  • Analyze the current portfolio and develop strategic approaches to ensure a steady flow of shovel-ready projects
  • Collaborate with internal teams—including mapping, engineering, and construction—to assess and secure new site opportunities
  • Conduct outreach to landowners and oversee negotiations and execution of site control agreements
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members on site selection and early development tasks
  • Navigate local entitlement processes, including participation in public forums and coordination with municipal planning staff
  • Cultivate and grow relationships with utilities to move projects through grid connection milestones
  • Align legal, technical, and financial inputs to reduce risk and move projects forward
  • Prepare early-stage cost estimates and development timelines for internal decision-makers
  • Monitor project progress using internal tracking tools and workflows
  • Contribute to advocacy efforts and regulatory engagement, including involvement in industry associations and occasional public testimony
  • Support the handoff of projects into the construction and operations phases

Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience advancing community solar projects from early-stage planning through construction readiness, preferably in Colorado or similarly structured markets
  • Skilled at working cross-functionally with teams such as legal, finance, and technical departments to keep project timelines on track and aligned with company goals
  • Strong track record in securing site control and navigating regulatory and utility approval processes by building productive relationships with external partners and decision-makers
  • Capable of creating and presenting comprehensive project reports to executive leadership, ensuring consistent visibility into progress and key developments
  • Brings a collaborative spirit, creative problem-solving approach, and strong commitment to community-based clean energy solutions
  • Ideally located in Colorado with familiarity navigating the state’s solar development landscape; remote applicants with proven Colorado market experience or in-state candidates new to the sector will also be considered
