Role Overview

Our client is seeking a Project Development Manager / Senior Project Development Manager to lead the advancement of solar and storage projects in PJM, ISO-NE, and NYISO. This role involves managing existing assets, evaluating new opportunities through acquisitions, and coordinating with teams across siting, finance, engineering, construction, and legal. The developer will oversee another member of the team and ensure project milestones are met. Ideal candidates will have deep experience navigating interconnection, permitting, and stakeholder processes in organized markets.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Drive both greenfield and acquired projects from early development through NTP, ensuring smooth handoff to finance, construction, and operations teams
  • Oversee vendor and contractor coordination to align costs and deliverables with investor expectations across various markets
  • Lead all aspects of the interconnection process, including filings, impact studies, grid upgrades, and negotiations with ISOs and utilities
  • Handle local permitting and lead outreach to community members, agencies, and public officials to secure development approvals
  • Track market developments and contribute insights on policy, permitting, and grid access to strengthen project success
  • Support evaluation of acquisition targets, review diligence materials, and help onboard new assets into the project pipeline
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and cash flow forecasts while keeping leadership informed of spending and development progress
  • Communicate funding needs, risks, and financial expectations clearly to senior leadership
  • Assist legal team with contract reviews and negotiations
  • Align project work with company strategy through close coordination with internal team leads
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with landowners, regulators, and community stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure a complete and accurate transition of development work to the EPC team at construction kickoff

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in solar and/or storage development, ideally with experience in PJM or similar regional markets
  • Undergraduate degree or comparable background in a related discipline such as engineering, or business
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Highly motivated and adaptable, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities and thrive in both solo and team-driven settings
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience guiding and supporting junior team members
  • Comfortable using key software tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and project management platforms
  • Ability to work remote, with a preference for being based remotely on the East Coast
