Job summary

Scale Microgrids in Ridgewood, NJ / NYC hybrid office seeks a seasoned Development Engineer to design C&I microgrid projects and DER solutions that meet resiliency, cost, and sustainability goals. You will translate customer needs into robust interconnection-ready designs and coordinate with utilities and AHJs.

You will own the technical strategy for each project, overseeing one-line diagrams, BOMs, and interconnection studies, and integrating PV, BESS, controls, and generator assets into

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in design, development, or construction of power generation or DER projects.
• Primary technical contact across BD, customers, utilities, and engineering teams.
• Working knowledge of low/medium voltage electrical systems (480V–34.5kV) and related switchgear.
• Experience with PV modeling tools (Helioscope, PVsyst) and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Support BD through opportunity qualification and proposal development with technical foundations.
• Develop microgrid designs including diagrams, layouts, and BOMs for contract-ready deliverables.
• Lead interconnection strategy and utility studies to optimize economical outcomes.
• Oversee detailed engineering deliverables and controls integration for autonomous operation.
• Refine internal tools and processes to scale project volume.
