Job summary

National Conference for Community and Justice in Windsor, CT, seeks a Deputy Director to lead NCCJ's diversified development program and oversee non-program activities. The role reports to the leadership team and supervises the Development Manager, E-Communications/Marketing, finance and IT consultants.

The Deputy Director will be responsible for donor cultivation and stewardship, grantwriting, and organizational leadership, including HR, budgeting, marketing, and volunteer recruitment.

Qualifications

• Diverse development experience with emphasis on grantwriting and the annual fund.
• Minimum 4 years’ senior-level management experience (supervision, HR, planning) in nonprofit settings.
• Exposure to nonprofit financial management, including budgeting and reporting.
• Excellent managerial, supervisory and administrative skills.
• Ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.
• Must be able to attend periodic evening and weekend meetings and events.

Responsibilities

• Lead development plan for donor cultivation, stewardship and solicitation strategy, including foundation and corporate support, events and direct mail.
• Oversee foundation and corporate grantwriting; supervise prospect research and reporting.
• Participate in donor and stakeholder presentations.
• Supervise Development Manager and coordinate special events and annual fund activities.
• Analyze donor data to inform fundraising strategy.
• Lead marketing and communications program; integrate social media and publications.
• Oversee E-Communications & Marketing team.
• Supervise outsourced finance staff; manage budgeting, payroll and general ledger.
• Serve as NCCJ’s HR officer; oversee hiring, onboarding, promotions, evaluations and employee relations.
• Coordinate volunteer recruitment and use.
• Oversee outsourced IT professionals to meet technology needs.
