Job summary

The Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL) seeks a Director of Development to drive growth, expand access to justice, and build strategic fundraising programs in Chicago. You will lead planning, major gifts, grants, foundation and corporate fundraising, donor stewardship, and communications, while supervising staff and collaborating with the Executive Director and Board.

This hybrid role requires 2-3 days in the office, occasional evenings/weekends for events, and a track record of delivering

Qualifications

• Six years of development experience.
• Three years in frontline development with major gifts.
• Experience with external stakeholders.
• Experience creating fundraising messaging and materials.
• Experience administering government and foundation grants.
• Commitment to older adults and people with disabilities.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and work collaboratively.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual fundraising programs across foundations, corporate, government, individual donor solicitation and cultivation, major gifts, planned giving and events.
• Create and implement long-range strategic development plan and fundraising calendar.
• Oversee Major Gifts program and donor stewardship.
• Collaborate with Executive Director, Board and staff to align Development Plan with strategic goals.
• Produce donor solicitation materials and communications.
• Supervise Development Associate and oversee marketing/communications efforts.
• Meet fundraising goals set by the Fundraising Committee, Board and Executive Director.
• Manage grant calendar and coordinate grant submissions and reports.
• Coordinate funder/donor site visits to showcase CDEL’s programs.
• Participate in senior management decisions and attend fundraising events.
