Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a detainee transport professional in Centre County, Pennsylvania. The role involves securely moving detainees and ensuring vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations.

You will review inspections, manage permits, track hours of service, and screen transport staff. Ideal candidates have a relevant certification, a CDL with Passenger endorsement, applicable security licenses, and the ability to work overtime and travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required; state requisites for employment.
• Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
• A valid Class B or Class C Chauffeurs Driver’s License with a Passenger endorsement within 90 days of appointment.
• Eighty (80) hours of verified and certified driver’s training from an approved company trainer per DOT.
• Must possess a State Firearms License.
• Must possess a State Security Guard License.
• Must have completed an approved training program resulting in a certification of satisfactory completion in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Current driver’s license with no preventable accidents, suspensions for driving convictions, DWI/DUI or more than two moving violations in last 3 years.
• Passing a company and DOT drug and alcohol test.
• Ability to work overtime frequently.
• Ability to travel extended periods with frequent overnight stays.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress from extended hours.
• Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.
• Ability to be physically alert on any assigned shift.
• Ability to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling twenty-four (24) hour period.
• Must be mature, flexible, and able to command respect and confidence of inmates/staff; high tolerance to mental stress.
• Ability to work with computers and department software.

Responsibilities

• Assist management when unique or unexpected problems arise while transporting detainees (help develop effective and efficient solutions).
• Review vehicle inspection reports and develop summaries for Transportation management.
• Ensure that all permits and licenses for assigned vehicles are in order.
• Ensure vehicles have necessary safety equipment before a trip and report issues to Transportation management.
• Properly track DOT HOS on Electronic Logging Devices.
• Participate in interviewing and screening of applicant Transport Officers.
• Review all necessary paperwork and ensure reports are submitted per policies.
• Ensure missions meet or exceed PBNDS/FBNDS safety measures while transporting detainees.
