About the Opportunity

SDVO Technology Services, Inc. (SDVO Tech), a New York State-certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB), is seeking an experienced Senior Desktop Engineer / IT Specialist for a long-term consulting engagement supporting a New York State government agency in Manhattan.

We are looking for an accomplished enterprise IT professional with extensive experience in Windows desktop engineering, endpoint management, Active Directory, system deployment, enterprise security, and advanced troubleshooting.

This position requires onsite work in Lower Manhattan from Day 1. Remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, configure, deploy, and support enterprise Windows desktop environments, including workstation hardware and operating systems.
• Develop and maintain standardized Windows images, secure baseline configurations, and endpoint deployment procedures.
• Administer Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate endpoint administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Perform application packaging, software deployment, patching, release management, and hardware/software upgrades.
• Maintain endpoint security and compliance, including antivirus, encryption, PKI, and system-hardening controls.
• Troubleshoot complex desktop, VPN, VDI, multifactor authentication, network printing, hardware, and software issues.
• Work with infrastructure, cybersecurity, project management, and business operations teams on upgrades, implementations, and technical initiatives.
• Conduct system testing, debugging, preventative maintenance, performance monitoring, and root-cause analysis.
• Maintain technical documentation, manage support priorities, and meet established service-level expectations.
  

Required Qualifications

• At least 7 years (84 months) of qualifying professional IT Specialist experience, demonstrating Expert-level capabilities in enterprise IT environments.
• Strong hands-on background supporting enterprise Windows desktop infrastructure, endpoints, and business technology platforms.
• Experience independently diagnosing complex technical problems and implementing reliable solutions.
• Ability to provide advanced technical guidance and work effectively with infrastructure and support teams.
• Ability to work onsite in Manhattan from Day 1.
• Ability to accept direct W-2 employment through SDVO Tech without requiring employer visa sponsorship or transfer.
  

Additional Technical Qualifications

Candidates will be evaluated based on their documented professional experience in the following areas:

• Enterprise desktop engineering, workstation support, and Windows endpoint administration.
• Windows 11 and 64-bit Windows operating systems.
• Active Directory management and Group Policy administration.
• Mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
• PowerShell, VBScript, and other administrative scripting.
• Enterprise Windows imaging, application packaging, and software deployment.
• Networking concepts, including DHCP, VLANs, access control lists, and firewalls.
• Endpoint security management, antivirus, PKI, disk encryption, and cybersecurity compliance.
• Advanced troubleshooting of VPN, VDI, multifactor authentication, and network printing.
• Technical design, build testing, debugging, research, planning, and implementation.
• Intel-based workstation hardware and operating systems.
• Relevant Microsoft Windows professional certifications.

A perfect match across every technical category is not required. The State evaluates individual requested qualifications through a weighted scoring process. Candidates with substantial relevant experience are encouraged to apply.

Employment Conditions

This engagement is offered exclusively through direct W-2 employment with SDVO Tech.

Compensation is $50.00 per hour, paid as a W-2 employee.
