Job summary

Massachusetts School Building Authority in Boston seeks a Senior Project Manager – Design Team to supervise design and architectural components of Core Program projects. The role supports the Design Director in evaluating the impact of building and energy codes on MSBA processes and guidelines.

The position involves coordinating with Owner’s Project Managers, school districts, and consultants; leading design reviews, policy development, and training initiatives to advance K-12 modernization

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, project management, construction, or a field related to building planning and design.
• Ten (10) years of experience in building design, construction, project management, or other applicable disciplines.
• Two (2) years in a supervisory project management capacity.
• Thorough knowledge of the design process from conceptual phases through construction documents.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team across various project needs.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook).
• Demonstrated experience with Massachusetts public construction and/or educational facilities and knowledge of Massachusetts procurement laws.
• Massachusetts Registered Architect.
• Working knowledge of Tableau software is a plus

Responsibilities

• Management of MSBA’s Designer Selection Panel to ensure compliance with MSBA designer selection policies and procedures and statutory requirements.
• Participation in the MSBA’s Owner Project Management Review Panel, Designer Selection Panel, or other task forces.
• Procurement and management of consultants and developing budgets and approving invoices.
• Manage internal review cycle to generate technical review comments for Core Program projects in design development and construction documents phases.
• Prepare memoranda capturing review findings and recommendations; convene meetings with MSBA staff, design consultants, and district representatives.
• Conduct site visits, building assessments, and space reviews for Statements of Interest.
• Provide supervisory review and quality assurance of technical comments and recommendations.
• Oversee evaluation of design documentation and act as a technical resource for communities.
• Collaborate with project managers, cost estimators, and construction specialists through all project phases.
• Develop and implement MSBA construction standards, guidelines, and regulations.
• Coordinate training programs for programmatic, procedural, and technical challenges in K-12 modernization.
• Conduct special studies to support program objectives.
