Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for Power Tools to lead design efforts, mentor engineers, and drive innovative product development within Trade Tools. The role emphasizes ownership, technical leadership, and collaboration with Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams.

The candidate will contribute to mechanical design, analyses, and test regimens, with a strong focus on reliability, manufacturability, and performance of power tool systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of design experience in mechanical engineering.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD - ProE, Solidworks, NX, or similar as well as FEA.
• Deep mechanical aptitude with knowledge of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop engineers toward increasing technical ownership.
• Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international).
• High interest in tools of the construction trades.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead technical resource on Power Tool development projects, providing direction and support.
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership, coaching, and mentorship to direct reports.
• Support direct reports in leading multiple projects by prioritizing, evaluating trade-offs, and mitigating risks.
• Provide clear engineering information to Project Leaders and Global Engineering teams for trade-off decisions.
• Establish and support test regimens for components and assemblies and deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations.
• Perform calculations and software-aided analyses in mechanical stress, tolerance stack analyses, gearing design, sound and vibration, and mechanism development.
