Job summary

Southland Industries leads in MEP design and construction services, seeking an experienced engineer to guide projects from concept to completion and provide ongoing technical guidance. The role emphasizes coordination with design teams, successful problem resolution, and strong client interaction.

The candidate should bring a PE license, 8+ years of experience, and strong CAD/Microsoft Office skills to drive effective, compliant design solutions for complex HVAC, fire protection, and plumbing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.
• 8+ years of experience, including lead experience.
• Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design (fire suppression, HVAC, plumbing, etc.).
• Ability to read complex mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including with clients and contractors.
• Strong public speaking/presentation skills.
• Excellent computer skills, including CAD and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Responsibilities

• Provides conceptual design for specific projects.
• Serves as design professional at project team design meetings.
• Prepares complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating.
• Performs complex calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction loss, hydraulic calculations).
• Performs site inspections to verify conformance with construction documents and resolves design issues during construction phase.
• Supervises less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC, fire protection or other system design and documents production of projects.
