Job summary

Southland Industries in Texas is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead and design projects from concept to construction. You will evaluate systems for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, perform complex calculations, and guide project teams.

The role requires PE licensure, a bachelor's in engineering, and at least 5 years' experience. You will mentor engineers, develop design standards, and respond to RFIs while ensuring compliance and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required.
• PE License required; minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead, evaluate, design, and engineer projects to specification.
• Perform complex calculations for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, or other systems.
• Develop standards, methods, processes and procedures for reviewing, evaluating and inspecting designs.
• Determine methods and solutions for complex engineering problems and identify the most efficient and acceptable solution.
• Direct workflow of less-experienced engineers on assigned projects; mentor on designs and technical issues.
• Write technical narratives in response to RFIs.
