Job summary

Southland Industries, a national MEP firm, seeks a Senior Design Engineer to provide conceptual HVAC and system design for diverse projects. You will supervise junior engineers and guide the production of small and large projects, while ensuring alignment with construction documents and client needs.

Responsibilities include leading design meetings, performing complex calculations, site inspections, and coordinating with contractors.

Qualifications

• Four-year engineering degree or related field required.
• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• PE license required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and plumbing system design.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing drawings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable with clients and contractors.
• Strong public speaking skills.
• Proficient in CAD and Microsoft Office, including Excel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as design professional at project team meetings.
• Prepare complex preliminary redline layouts for estimating.
• Perform complex calculations (loads, sizing, friction, etc.).
• Conduct site inspections and resolve design issues during construction.
• Supervise or direct workflow of junior engineers on HVAC and other systems.
• Document production of small and large projects.
