Job summary

The State of Missouri seeks a Senior Professional Engineer to design and oversee Abandoned Mine Land projects in Jefferson City. You will prepare detailed plans using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson and Global Mapper, and lead teams to deliver reclamation goals within budgets.

You will coordinate multiple disciplines, review coal permit actions, conduct onsite data collection, and travel as needed. Missouri licensure as a Professional Engineer is required.

• ABET-accredited engineering degree with four or more years of engineering experience for licensure.

Responsibilities

This position will be located at the Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City MO – 40-hour work week.

• Prepare detailed professional plans and specifications for construction of complex Abandoned Mine Land (AML) projects while meeting the landowner’s needs. Must use sound engineering practices including grading plans, storm water drainage control, spillway design, survey control, testing, and sampling.
• Utilize Senior Professional Engineer seal on all final plans and specifications for bid.
• Design plans using various software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Carlson, Global Mapper) including remote sensory data sources, collecting site specific survey data of topography, building structures, drainage structures, or roads.
• Effectively lead the (AML) team to develop a detailed scope of work for the design and construction of large earthmoving projects using independent decision-making authority for project budgets, planning, and management to meet all reclamation goals.
• Direct and coordinate the work of construction, survey crews, contractors, and other professional, technical, and sub-professional personnel to ensure that work completed accomplishes the intended engineering design of the projects.
• Perform engineering and technical reviews of coal permit applications and actions as assigned by the unit supervisor.
• Occasional daily travel for onsite inspection, data acquisition, and construction meetings.

To be hired as a Senior Professional Engineer, you must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri

• Project Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, or tools for developing, scheduling, coordinating, and managing projects and resources, including monitoring, and inspecting costs, work, and contractor performance.

Equivalent To Those Typically Gained By

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited program with at least four full years of satisfactory engineering experience, as required for licensure. Knowledge of project management. Ability to interpret and apply broad applications of engineering knowledge, relevant policies, and engineering standards.
