Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Senior Director/VP of Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs to lead across the US and international jurisdictions.

You will build and mentor a team of professionals handling product, regulatory, licensing, litigation, and enforcement matters tied to our consumer financial products. Reporting to the CLO/CCO, you will partner with the executive team and cross-functional leaders to shape strategy, manage risk, and ensure cohesive legal work aligned with Affirm’s mission

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and bar admission in good standing.
• 20 years of legal experience, including fintech or consumer financial matters at a tech company or law firm.
• Expert knowledge of federal and state consumer protection, lending, fintech, payments, and litigation.
• Strong leadership with cross-functional influence and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic plans for legal, regulatory, and enforcement functions aligned with company strategy.
• Counsel senior management, board members, and regulators as a trusted advisor on legal matters.
• Partner with Product, Technology, and cross-functional leaders on product development and regulatory initiatives.
• Oversee regulatory inquiries, bank partner examinations, and enforcement actions; manage outside counsel spend.
• Lead budgeting, risk management, and mentoring of junior attorneys.
