Job summary

Alexander Wang is seeking a Senior Technical Designer, Denim to ensure denim garments meet brand vision, fit standards, and quality through expert oversight of fit, construction, and manufacturing. The role partners with design, product development, production, and factories to drive consistency and timeliness from concept to production.

As a senior technical leader, you will mentor junior designers, establish denim technical standards, and leverage emerging technologies to drive innovation

Qualifications

• 7+ years of apparel technical design experience with denim focus
• Expertise in denim construction, fit standards, grading, and engineering
• Degree in Fashion Design or related field (or equivalent)
• Experience in luxury/contemporary product development with premium denim methods
• Proficiency in garment fit analysis, pattern evaluation, and denim specifications
• Knowledge of denim finishing and wash techniques
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Outlook
• Experience with RLM and Gerber systems
• Experience with digital garment simulation and AI-assisted fit analysis
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and multi-project delivery
• Mentoring abilities and leadership of junior designers
• Excellent written and verbal communication across geographies

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain technical specs for denim styles
• Lead technical design reviews and live fit sessions
• Generate and manage tech packs across development stages
• Collaborate with Design/Development/Production to solve issues
• Evaluate vendor samples for fit and workmanship
• Coordinate with factories to resolve construction challenges
• Track overseas sample development and ensure timely approvals
• Finalize and issue graded production specifications
• Communicate clearly with internal and external partners
• Foster collaborative, solution-oriented team environment
