Job summary

Silverthorne Advisory Group seeks a Senior Financial Management Consultant – Team Lead to guide federal financial management and ERP modernization within the Defense sector. You will lead a team, manage projects, and serve as the primary liaison with the client.

The role focuses on internal controls, data governance, SFIS compliance, and actionable recommendations to improve financial processes and team performance.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience in financial management, federal consulting, accounting, audit readiness, or related fields.
• At least 3 years of experience managing, mentoring, or leading junior staff.
• Experience managing multiple projects, workstreams, or deliverables in a dynamic environment.
• Strong understanding of financial systems, internal controls, and financial management processes.
• Experience working with large datasets and synthesizing complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of four to five junior staff members, ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
• Serve as the primary client contact and translate business needs into clear functional requirements.
• Develop and oversee multiple project plans with varying complexity.
• Support ERP modernization and system enhancements to strengthen internal controls.
• Develop data governance protocols to improve data quality and integration between financial systems.
• Ensure financial systems align with SFIS guidelines.
• Manage Corrective Action Plans from development through closure and close any NFRs.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, risks, and process improvements.
• Communicate project status, risks, findings, and recommendations to clients and leadership.
• Coordinate activities across multiple organizations and stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for additional client support and future growth.
