Job summary

Athene is seeking a VP Sales, Defined Contribution to drive DC private assets and Vitera guaranteed income sales to retirement advisors in a large U.S. territory. The role reports to the Head of DC Wealth Distribution and requires 70%+ travel with an internal wholesaler for support.

The candidate will bring deep DC advisor relationships, knowledge of ERISA, and expertise in private assets or guaranteed income, with a structured training plan during the first year.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in retirement plan sales with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals
• Established relationships with retirement plan advisors, recordkeeper field teams, and defined contribution practices
• Strong command of advisor-led and recordkeeper channels, including how home office relationships translate into field opportunities
• Knowledge of the defined contribution market and ERISA fundamentals, plus expertise in private assets or guaranteed income
• Strong presentation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to adapt approach as opportunities develop
• FINRA Series 6 and 63 or Series 7 required
• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field, or equivalent professional experience

Responsibilities

• Own the annual territory sales target across the Apollo DC and Vitera defined contribution offerings.
• Build relationships with retirement plan advisors and recordkeeper field teams, converting national partnerships into local adoption.
• Develop and execute a territory plan with priority advisors, a consistent activity cadence, pipeline milestones, and measurable sales outcomes.
• Lead advisor education, field events, and finalist presentations; bring in product specialists for depth while retaining ownership of the relationship.
• Coordinate with recordkeeper partners on joint meetings, campaigns, and opportunities.
• Use CRM data, market intelligence, and AI tools to refine targeting and maintain pipeline discipline.
