Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with contractor personnel, DBE firms and the general public.
• Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze facts; to devise solutions to problems; to prepare reports; and to develop, evaluate, and interpret policies and procedures.
• Ability to maintain detailed records, prepare reports and maintain project files.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work in field conditions.
• Ability to read, interpret and analyze roadway, structure and bridge plans, specifications and contract documents.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication with VDOT and external staff; manage public relations and respond to public concerns.
• Monitor and inspect highway projects; provide guidance to other inspectors and ensure compliance with contracts, plans, safety, and environmental guidelines.
• Oversee DBE compliance and ensure subcontractor adherence to DBE requirements.
• Review DBE mobilization plans for OSHA compliance and safe site mobilization.
• Maintain project documentation and correlate with contractor schedules and changes.
• Track project progress, budget, submittals, and equipment needs; prepare minutes and reports.
