Job summary

BP plc is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for DBaaS to help realize the product vision and deliver database-powered solutions across cloud and on-prem environments. You will act as a domain expert for relational and NoSQL engines and guide a global team of engineers and administrators.

Responsibilities include defining blueprints, scaling capabilities, and ensuring secure, compliant deployments while driving ongoing improvements in automation and monitoring.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of database and system level tuning.
• Knowledge of fault tolerance, load balancing, and disaster recovery technologies as they relate to database products.
• Experience with T-SQL, PL/SQL, and stored procedure tuning.
• Experience operating databases in application or infrastructure support environments.
• Experience with multiple database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Experience with DevOps enabling self-service management for development teams.

Responsibilities

• Define database product blueprints for on-premise and cloud environments.
• Develop, implement, and maintain technical product characteristics (capacity scale-out, performance monitoring, fault tolerance).
• Develop and maintain tooling and configurations for deployment and monitoring of database products.
• Work with engineers and admins to ensure standards meet requirements.
• Drive standardization and continual improvement of database products.
• Contribute to roadmap and upgrades of database product technologies.
• Ensure security and compliance considerations are addressed.
