Florida Blue, a leading health and technology innovator in Florida, seeks a Senior IT Database Administrator to manage complex databases and ensure secure, efficient data operations. You will provide technical leadership, design and optimize data flows, and guide disaster recovery planning across IT teams.

The role emphasizes collaboration across matrix teams, delivering reliable data services while enabling AI-enabled capabilities and scalable performance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of related work experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent IT experience.
• Expert proficiency in SQL programming.
• Strong leadership demonstrated through project or technical leadership experience.
• Experience with large database environments for decision support and high availability.
• Advanced scripting in Unix or NT environments.
• Experience with Oracle, DB2, LDAP or IMS.
• Knowledge of backup and recovery concepts and procedures.
• Familiarity with PM methodologies and IT processes.
• Ability to work outside normal business hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Consults on database, architecture and related infrastructure technologies across IT.
• Provides technical leadership on leading-edge database technologies and large-scale solutions.
• Develops and enforces disaster recovery and security policies for databases.
• Writes complex programming/scripts for data management tasks.
• Monitor and optimize database performance and adjust configurations.
• Provide production support for outages and recovery events.
• Lead database change management related to environment migrations.
• Maintain operational documentation and architecture blueprints.
• Collaborate with users and IT partners to understand requirements.
• Advise on database consulting for projects and initiatives.
