Job summary

Solerity, Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Migration Engineer to lead end-to-end migrations, oversee assessment, planning, schema conversion, data movement, validation, cutover, and post-migration stabilization across AWS managed platforms such as Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL and RDS.

You will collaborate with application developers, ETL/data engineers, BI teams, security and governance personnel, and Government stakeholders to deliver low-downtime migrations, optimize performance, implement

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database engineering or migration.
• Experience leading complex enterprise migrations.
• Hands-on with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL and Amazon RDS.
• Experience migrating Oracle/PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server to cloud platforms.
• Experience with AWS DMS, AWS SCT, native utilities, or comparable tools.
• Advanced SQL and database-development skills.
• Experience remediating data types and dependencies.
• Experience developing migration validation and data-quality controls.
• Experience with performance tuning, backup, recovery, replication, HA, and production stabilization.
• Scripting with SQL, Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar.
• Experience using Git and CI/CD processes.
• Knowledge of database security and vulnerability remediation.
• Strong leadership, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
• Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migration activities from discovery to post-migration stabilization.
• Assess legacy DB platforms, schemas, data volumes, interfaces, and security controls.
• Develop migration strategies, plans, risk assessments, and runbooks.
• Lead migrations to AWS managed DB platforms (Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL, RDS).
• Develop automation using SQL, Python, Bash, PowerShell, Liquibase, Flyway.
• Collaborate with developers, data engineers, BI, cloud engineers, cybersecurity, and stakeholders.
• Prepare and maintain DB diagrams, data dictionaries, mappings, and procedures.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the team.
