Job summary

Frontline Education is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to design, operate, and scale our production database platforms across AWS and on‑prem environments. You will build resilient, observable, and secure systems, enabling high availability and performance for critical applications used by educators.

You will drive automation, leverage IaC, and collaborate with Engineering, Cloud, and Support teams to improve reliability and implement AI-enhanced workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop deep understanding of production DB environments across AWS and on‑prem.
• Design, manage, and optimize production DB environments for availability, performance, security.
• Build and maintain DB infrastructure using IaC and automated pipelines.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks using AI-enabled tools.
• Maintain backup, recovery, DR, and observability solutions.
• Ensure DB security through patching and access controls.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve production issues.
• Participate in on‑call rotation for production DB ops.
• Evaluate new technologies to improve scalability and maintainability.
• Serve as technical owner for one or more DB platforms, mentor teammates.
