Job summary

Karsun Solutions, LLC seeks a Senior Database Engineer to provide DB administration for Oracle standalone and RAC environments, including Linux and legacy SunSolaris servers. You will install, patch, and maintain database apps, manage security, and optimize performance while supporting application development teams.

The role requires 15+ years of experience, strong DLM knowledge, and cloud experience (AWS/Azure).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other IT field; Engineering, math, or science degrees are acceptable substitutes.
• 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server database administration in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with on-premise, AWS EC2, AWS RDS or equivalent; AWS S3 and AWS DMS experience.
• Database lifecycle management (DLM) experience.
• Knowledge of data scrubbing, data masking, and data compare.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud environments.
• Relevant certification and ability to obtain/maintain US security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide database administration to Oracle standalone and Oracle RAC on Linux/Sun Solaris servers.
• Install, configure, and maintain database applications with patches and updates.
• Manage database security and user permissions as required.
• Develop and/or maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes).
• Monitor and optimize database performance and tuning.
• Manage and ensure compliance with database backup strategies.
• Provide customer support to database and application development teams.
• Maintain Database Lifecycle Management processes per client specifications.
• Provide impact information on proposed changes to applications and databases.
• Provide scheduling and resource estimates to stakeholders for proposed changes.
• Provide sizing recommendations for new databases or changes to existing databases.
• Participate in meetings with Solution Delivery Service staff and stakeholders.
• Work with other DBAs to optimize databases, server clusters, replications, and backup strategies.
