Job summary

Karsun Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to support databases for client applications, software development, and maintenance projects in a government-focused environment. The role requires extensive experience with Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server, on-premise and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and strong skills in security, data migration, and lifecycle management.

U.S. suitability clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or IT related field.
• Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server database administration in an enterprise environment.
• Experience with Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server on On-premise, AWS EC2, AWS RDS or equivalent; AWS S3, AWS Data Migration Services.
• Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server database administration experience.
• Experience in Microsoft based server environments.
• Experience in Database Lifecycle Management (DLM).
• Experience in Data Scrubbing, Data Masking, Data Compare and Review.
• Experience in improving Database user / systems authentication robustness.
• AWS and/or Azure experience.
• Relevant certification or clearance suitability.

Responsibilities

• Provide database administration to databases running on Oracle standalone and Oracle RAC on Linux / SunSolaris servers.
• Install, configure, and maintain database applications with required patches and updates.
• Manage database security and user permissions and privileges in accordance with application/database requirements.
• Develop and/or maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes).
• Monitor and optimize database performance and tuning.
• Manage and ensure compliance with database backup strategies.
• Provide customer support to database and associated application development team, owners, and user stakeholders.
• Maintain Database Lifecycle Management processes detailed by client specifications.
• Provide impact information on proposed changes to application and its database structure.
• Provide schedule and resource requirements to stakeholders concerning proposed changes.
• Provide sizing recommendations for new databases or changes to existing databases.
• Participate in meetings with Solution Delivery Service staff and stakeholders.
• Work with other database administrators to ensure optimal efficiency and optimization of databases, server clusters, replications, back-up strategies, and database services.
