Job summary

Karsun Solutions, LLC is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to support databases for client applications, development, and maintenance projects. You will administer Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server across on-prem and cloud environments, while ensuring security, performance, and robust backups.

The role involves collaborating with application teams, delivering sizing and lifecycle management, and providing technical guidance on database changes. A U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT related field; engineering/math/science substitutions allowed.
• Minimum 15+ years of relevant experience in database administration.
• Experience with Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server in enterprise environments.
• Extensive Oracle/MySQL/SQL Server on-premise, AWS EC2/RDS; AWS S3 and DMS experience.
• Experience in Microsoft server environments and DLM.
• Background in data scrubbing, masking, compare and review.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Suitability/Public Trust clearance.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide database administration for Oracle standalone and RAC on Linux/Sun Solaris.
• Install, configure, and maintain database applications with patches and updates.
• Manage database security and user permissions per requirements.
• Develop/maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes).
• Monitor and optimize database performance and tuning.
• Manage backup strategies and lifecycle management.
• Provide customer support to development teams and stakeholders.
• Contribute to database lifecycle processes per client specs.
• Offer impact analysis on changes to apps and database structures.
• Provide scheduling and resource estimates for proposed changes.
• Suggest sizing for new or changed databases including growth projections.
• Participate in Solution Delivery Service meetings and collaborate with DBAs.
