Job summary

J&T in Fort Meade, MD, is seeking a Senior Database Engineer (Level 3) to provide high-level technical leadership in database architecture, dataflow engineering, and enterprise information storage and retrieval. The role focuses on guiding design across the full lifecycle and balancing architectural trade-offs for large, secure systems.

Qualifications

• Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
• Experience leading database architecture design and dataflow optimization.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing relational and OO database structures.
• Development of custom database parsers, loading utilities, and data manipulation scripts.
• Experience with cloud-based database storage and distributed architectures.

Responsibilities

• Direct design, development, and deployment of relational and OO database structures within enterprise architectures.
• Oversee custom parser development, loading utilities, and data ingestion pipelines.
• Lead architectural trade-off evaluations for data volumes, concurrency, distribution, latency, and retention.
• Translate complex requirements into optimized database schemas, tables, views, and data structures.
• Oversee creation and maintenance of complex SQL queries, scripts, macros, and data files.
• Direct cloud-based database storage implementations using modern distributed methods.
• Set and drive short- and long-term technical roadmaps for database administration and capacity planning.
