Job summary

MAXIMUS is seeking a senior data scientist in Louisville, KY to interpret results, build classifiers, and guide stakeholders with data-driven insights. You will identify appropriate ML techniques, expand data collection, and monitor model performance to ensure robust, scalable analytics.

As a lead, you will manage projects, communicate with cross-functional teams, and stay abreast of new technologies to advance MAXIMUS analytics capabilities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in data analysis/science with emphasis on data-driven decision making.
• Strong understanding of ML techniques and algorithms (e.g., k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees).
• Experience with data visualization tools and common data science toolkits.
• Advanced applied statistics skills (distributions, regression, statistical testing).
• Ability to work independently or in a team; excellent oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Interpret results using data aggregation, statistics, and data mining.
• Select features, build and refine classifiers with advanced ML techniques.
• Serve as SME in data/analytics for analysts and stakeholders.
• Identify suitable decision technology techniques (optimization, simulation, regression, trees, neural nets, clustering).
• Use statistical methods to forecast trends and maintain reliable predictions.
• Expand data collection procedures for robust analytics systems.
• Develop automated anomaly detection and monitor model performance.
