Job summary

MAXIMUS is seeking a senior data science leader to interpret results with advanced analytics and to develop robust ML models. You will select key features, build and refine classifiers, and act as SME for data-driven decision making across the organization.

You will apply diverse decision technologies, expand data collection, and implement automated anomaly detection while guiding projects and collaborating with business users. The role requires strong communication and leadership across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience with 7+ years in data analysis/science.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms (k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Trees).
• Experience with data science toolkits and multiple tools; proficiency in data visualization.
• Advanced applied statistics skills (distributions, testing, regression).
• Excellent SQL and relational database skills; ability to work with large datasets and distributed/cloud tools.

Responsibilities

• Interpret results using a range of techniques from data aggregation to advanced data mining and pattern recognition.
• Develop and refine classifiers using modern machine learning techniques.
• Serve as SME in data and analytics for analysts and stakeholders.
• Apply decision technology tools (optimization, simulation, regression, trees, neural nets, clustering, mixed models).
• Use statistical methods to forecast trends and maintain reliable predictions.
• Expand data collection procedures to support robust analytics systems.
• Develop automated anomaly detection and monitor model performance for improvement.
• Lead project management activities and coordinate team communication.
• Stay current with emerging technologies to grow the team's capabilities.
