Job summary

Headway is building the decision engine for better mental health outcomes. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will sit in the heart of a cross-functional product team and turn messy signals into clear decisions.

You will ensure we capture the right data, design experiments, and translate findings into recommendations that teams can act on quickly. When insights are stable, you will help operationalize them through predictive models that improve provider and patient experiences, with a focus on

Qualifications

• 6+ years using data to drive product or business decisions.
• Strong SQL and Python or R for analysis and modeling.
• Demonstrated depth in experimentation and causal inference; Bayesian experimentation preferred.
• Practical modeling skills: feature engineering, model comparison, validation, calibration.
• Strong product sense and ability to link analytics to measurable outcomes.
• Clear communication with non-technical audiences without losing truth.
• Self-starter mindset with ownership and initiative.

Responsibilities

• Be the analytics partner inside the pod.
• Design and analyze A/B tests and quasi-experiments.
• Connect funnel, cohort, segmentation, and lifecycle analyses to product impact.
• Apply causal inference when experiments aren’t possible (diff-in-diff, matching, regression designs).
• Build predictive models and monitor outcomes with clear launch criteria.
• Create decision-ready analyses and narratives to drive action.
• Raise the bar for metrics, experimentation, and analytical quality.
