Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist on the Business Analytics team to drive insights across the marketplace, with a focus on conversion and monetization. You’ll own key metrics, dashboards, and lead deep-dive analyses that shape strategy and inform leadership.

In collaboration with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance, you’ll translate analysis into decisions, build self-serve tools, and help uplift the company’s data culture through coaching and storytelling.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a highly analytical role, preferably in tech
• Proficiency using SQL and Python or R to analyze large data sets
• Strong statistics, business judgment, and ability to synthesize insights
• Experience partnering with executives to understand needs and drive decisions
• Strong communication skills across technical and non‑technical audiences
• Experience with using AI to automate workflows and enable self‑serve analytics
• Experience with revenue modeling and forecasting in a high-growth or public company

Responsibilities

• Define, monitor, and report on Thumbtack’s key metrics and dashboards
• Lead performance analyses to surface risks and opportunities for leadership
• Conduct deep-dives to answer questions critical to Thumbtack’s strategy
• Support and improve revenue forecasting models and planning processes
• Build and maintain dashboards and self-serve analytics tools
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and leadership to turn insights into action
• Strengthen data culture through peer collaboration, review, training, and coaching
