Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist on the Business Analytics team to drive insights across the marketplace, with a focus on conversion and monetization. You will steward key metrics and dashboards, partnering with leadership to shape strategy and present updates to the Board.

In this high-visibility role, you will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to turn analysis into decisions and drive business impact across the organization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in a highly analytical role, preferably in tech.
• Proficiency using SQL and Python or R to analyze large data sets.
• Exemplary analytical problem solving with strong business judgment.
• Experience partnering with executives to understand business needs and drive decisions.
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with using AI to automate workflows and enable self-serve analytics.
• Experience with revenue modeling and forecasting, ideally in a high-growth or public company environment.

Responsibilities

• Define, monitor, and report on the key metrics that measure Thumbtack's success.
• Lead business performance analysis and reporting that surfaces risks and opportunities for leadership.
• Conduct deep-dive analyses that address questions critical to Thumbtack's future strategy.
• Support and improve the revenue forecasting model and broader planning process.
• Build and maintain dashboards and self-serve tools used across the company.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and leadership to translate insight into action.
• Strengthen data culture through peer collaboration, review, training, and coaching.
