Job summary

7Seventy is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead product growth analytics and experimentation across the PLG lifecycle. You will study user behavior, onboarding friction, and activation, using SQL, Python, and ML to drive activation, conversion, retention, and expansion.

Qualifications

• Experience applying product analytics to activation, engagement, retention, or expansion.
• Practical experience with statistical analysis, experimental design, causal reasoning, and quantitative methods.
• Experience analyzing datasets with small samples, noisy signals, incomplete instrumentation, or limited A/B testing opportunities.
• Experience performing cohort, funnel, segmentation, and predictive modeling using ML methods.
• Experience developing dashboards and reusable analytical assets with BI tools.
• Ability to translate findings into measurable product improvements and growth initiatives.
• Experience with modern data platforms and distributed query engines such as Athena, Presto/Trino, BigQuery, or Snowflake.

Responsibilities

• Serve as embedded data science partner to product, design, and engineering to inform strategy, feature proposals, and experiment planning from early stages.
• Develop analytical frameworks covering acquisition through long-term durability of PLG.
• Conduct funnel, cohort, user journey, and sequence analyses to identify friction and opportunities for adoption.
• Identify behaviors and milestones linked to conversion, production readiness, account expansion, churn, and long-term success.
• Translate behavioral findings into leading indicators for adoption and growth opportunities.
• Analyze feature discovery, usage, and adoption to recommend interventions improving activation and engagement.
• Design, execute, and evaluate product experiments using appropriate statistical and causal methods.
• Apply matched comparisons, pre/post analyses, quasi-experimental methods when RCTs aren’t feasible.
• Work with large and smaller datasets, accounting for limited sample sizes and measurement uncertainty.
• Communicate findings with visuals and practical recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build reusable datasets, metrics, dashboards, and tools for product, marketing, sales, and leadership.
• Collaborate with Engineering to improve instrumentation and data quality for reliable measurement.
