Descript is hiring a Lead Data Scientist to shape our growth strategy and scale our experimentation program. You will drive activation, engagement, and monetization through data-driven insights, working closely with product and engineering to design and analyze experiments and build self-service analytics for stakeholders.

The role combines strategic analysis with hands-on modeling, requiring strong SQL and Python/R skills, and a growth-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in a Data Scientist role.
• 3+ years in a growth function.
• Strong knowledge of statistics, analysis, and A/B tests.
• Strong SQL skills and Python or R proficiency.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience at a fast-growing start-up is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis to shape product PLG and B2B strategy.
• Develop understanding of product ecosystem to drive activation, engagement, and monetization.
• Build and maintain self-service analytics for stakeholders.
• Own success metrics and opportunity sizing for product teams.
• Collaborate with product and engineering on experiments.
• Evolve experimentation culture and practices.
