Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead complex analytical projects and mentor analytics teams on government-related initiatives. The role emphasizes reproducible methods, validation, and cross-team collaboration.

The successful candidate will design dashboards, KPIs, and performance measures, while advising Government stakeholders on interpretation and limitations of models.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline with coursework in statistics, programming, and quantitative analysis.
• Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience applying data science or statistical methods to real-world problems; or a Master’s degree with three (3) years of related experience.
• Meet all qualifications of the Data Scientist labor category, with proficiency demonstrated through professional work experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python or R, with disciplined software practices and SQL.
• Demonstrated experience developing, validating, and delivering statistical or predictive models.
• Demonstrated experience leading analytical projects and mentoring analysts.
• Knowledge of experimental/causal inference or program-evaluation methods.

Responsibilities

• Perform all responsibilities of the Data Scientist labor category.
• Lead enterprise-scale analytical projects and validate approaches for ROI and risk factors.
• Review analytical design, code, and results for methodological soundness.
• Instruct and mentor Data Scientists and contract personnel in data science practices.
• Develop and maintain analytical standards, rules, and reproducible methodologies.
• Design, develop, and automate dashboards, KPIs, and MOEs for Government needs.
• Advise Government personnel on use and interpretation of analytical products.
