Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead complex analytical projects, mentor team members, and collaborate with government leadership to deliver impactful data-driven insights.

The role emphasizes independence, depth, breadth of analytics, and the development of enterprise dashboards and performance measures within a government-facing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline with coursework in statistics, programming and quantitative analysis.
• Minimum of five years applying data science or statistical methods to real-world problems; or a Master’s degree with at least three years’ experience.
• Meet all Data Scientist qualifications with professional work experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Python or R, with modular code, testing, version control, and SQL.
• Proven experience developing, validating, and delivering statistical or predictive models for organizational decisions.
• Proven experience leading analytical projects and mentoring other analysts.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise-scale analytical projects, defining validation approaches and ensuring reproducible results.
• Review methods and results of Data Scientists and guide best practices.
• Instruct and mentor Data Scientists and contract personnel in data science tooling and techniques.
• Develop and maintain analytical standards, rules, models, and validation procedures.
• Design, develop, and automate dashboards, scorecards, KPIs, MOEs as requested.
• Advise government personnel on use and interpretation of analytical products.
