Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation is seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to join the Corporate Engineering data analytics team.

You will work with advanced engineering groups to develop and execute analytics strategies for Oshkosh products, including drilling into data from industrial and service sources, and applying ML for preventive maintenance and intelligent control of vehicles. You will collaborate across data science, data engineering, software, and other engineering groups to advance analytics strategy,

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science or related field with five (5) or more years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform data science or analytics assignments, investigations, and visualization tasks.
• Deliver results according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards and processes.
• Support (Sr.) data analyst/scientist in the preparation of analytics work, plans, designs, data processing and visualization, and/or reporting.
• Under close supervision, work on projects of high level of complexity.
• Work in collaboration with data science team, data engineering, software, and other internal engineering groups or business support disciplines as well as external component suppliers.
• Collaborate with other team members in Oshkosh to establish and execute the data analytics strategy regarding telematics, cloud hosting, data file system and preprocessing and engineering applications.
• Work on the technical aspects of advanced diagnostics and prognostics and support the validation and verification of the intelligent preventive maintenance strategy using statistics and machine learning techniques.
• Conduct independent research on new technologies in cloud-based data analytics and establish requirements (resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, and milestones) and roadmap according to the needs of a project under the guidance of the supervisor.
• Conduct data processing and data analytics on Hadoop Distributed File Systems (HDFS) for different vehicle platforms based on internal or external customer requests.
• Responsible for manipulating high-volume, high-dimensionality data in cloud or on-premises from varying sources to highlight patterns, anomalies, relationships and trends with machine learning techniques using modeling tools (such as JMP, SAS, or Anaconda, Dataiku or alike).
• Support or lead the development of intelligent control of on or off-road vehicle or machineries using data analytics techniques.
• Assist or direct feasibility studies and project estimates (manpower, budget development, and timelines, etc.) on proposed research and development projects.
• Support or direct proposal development with regards to acquiring appropriate funding for various advanced data analytics and control systems program from government agencies.
• Provide insight to service or engineering design teams and support maintenance enhancement and product design improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Regular attendance is required.
