The Hertz Corporation is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Data Science & Insights team in Topeka, KS. You will develop practical, scalable data science solutions to improve forecasting, fleet planning, maintenance, and customer experience.

You will lead end-to-end model lifecycle, collaborate with Product and Operations, mentor analysts, and translate complex analyses into actionable business insights for senior leaders.

Qualifications

• Master's degree preferred; Ph.D. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
• 5+ years of data science experience delivering impactful projects.
• 3+ years end-to-end ML model development experience.
• Experience with large datasets, databases, and distributed data processing tools such as PySpark.
• Preferred hands‑on experience with cloud‑based data and analytics platforms such as Databricks.
• Experience using LLMs to connect fragmented data sources, validate assumptions, and accelerate analysis is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to translate analytics into actionable business insights.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end model lifecycle, from problem framing and EDA to feature engineering, model tuning, deployment, and monitoring.
• Build scalable, reliable models and analytical solutions that support repeatable decision-making across products, services, and business processes.
• Apply these solutions to improve demand forecasting, fleet planning, vehicle turnaround, maintenance planning, and customer satisfaction.
• Create leadership-ready data stories that frame key metrics, explain the “why,” and guide business decisions.
• Partner with Product, Operations, Revenue Management, and Fleet teams to identify, prioritize, and deliver high-value use cases that support revenue growth, operating expense reduction, and improved business performance.
• Support the transformation by developing practical MVPs, testing quickly, and iterating solutions that unlock business value.
• Mentor junior data analysts and contribute to a culture of learning, innovation, and quick experimentation.
• Stay current on data science methods, emerging technologies, and industry trends to continually improve team capabilities.
