Job summary

Thumbtack is seeking a senior Data Engineer to design and maintain scalable data warehouses and feature stores. You will collaborate with analytics, data science, and product teams to deliver reliable data products and datasets across the organization.

The role emphasizes building data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and leveraging AI-enabled workflows to accelerate development while maintaining ownership from ideation through deployment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing and building data sets and warehouses.
• Strong ability to collaborate with Analytics and other teams.
• Expertise in SQL for analytics and ETL transforms.
• Experience stitching production DBs, clickstream, and external APIs into a data warehouse.
• Experience with modern data stack (BigQuery, dbt, Airflow).
• Experience using AI to generate design plans and accelerate development.
• Strong ownership from ideation to maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively refine a framework for integrating data-thinking into the software development lifecycle for product teams.
• Design, architect, and maintain core operations datasets, data marts, and feature stores.
• Collaborate with cross functional partners to understand data needs and design datasets with engineering rigor.
• Drive data quality and best practices across different business areas.
• Build next-gen data products at Thumbtack, leveraging AI models for code generation and AI-enabled workflows.
