Job summary

Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Data Scientist, Consultant to join the AI & Machine Learning team. You will develop and deploy novel applications that leverage machine learning, statistical methods, and generative AI, building production‑grade AI products including LLM‑powered applications and RAG pipelines.

You will work across partner teams to translate cutting‑edge AI research into real‑world solutions, taking features from 0 to 1 and delivering impact across claims, payment integrity,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, quantitative discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• 7 years of experience in software development, applied AI/ML, and statistical analysis
• Demonstrated track record of shipping software products rapidly
• Working knowledge of ML methods with business problem applications
• Strong Python software engineering skills, including APIs/backend services
• Experience with ML design/deployment, model evaluation, data processing
• Hands-on experience with deep learning and LLM frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Hands-on experience building apps leveraging generative AI models (prompting, RAG)
