Job summary

Overroute is building AI agents for freight operations. We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist to set the technical direction, build production-scale models, and own end-to-end data science from baseline to monitoring.

You'll work with real-world operational data from day one, own data labeling, modeling, evaluation, and production deployment in a fully remote team with equity and healthcare benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in data science or applied machine learning.
• Agent-first workflow experience and the ability to hand off analysis, experiments, pipelines, and evaluation code to AI agents.
• Strong Python and SQL, sound software practices, and maintainable model/evaluation code.
• Experience with production ML deployments and end-to-end data workflows.
• Ability to explain a model's limits to engineers and operators.

Responsibilities

• Define ground truth datasets from operational sources for evaluation and modeling.
• Build predictive models and decision tools in collaboration with Product, Engineering, and operators.
• Scale production models and own monitoring, retraining, and updates.
