DAT Freight & Analytics is seeking a Sr AI Engineer to own and scale the platform powering agentic freight solutions. You will design shared AI services, manage real-time and batch inference, and drive reliability, security, and governance across teams.

Qualifications

• Ten-plus years in software engineering with production infra ownership.
• Four-plus years building and operating ML/AI platforms.
• Strong coding skills in TypeScript/Java/Go.
• Extensive AWS production experience (EKS, Lambda, S3, Kafka).
• Experience with infra-as-code (Pulumi, Terraform).
• Hands-on in model serving and GPU scheduling.
• Production ML/AI platforms experience with evaluation/monitoring.
• Background in event-driven/distributed systems (Redpanda/Kafka).
• Observability, dashboards, alerts, SLOs.
• Leadership in setting engineering standards and reviews.
• Mentoring data scientists and engineers in design/ops.
• Excellent cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate shared AI model services.
• Lead architecture for large-scale AI systems and align with product teams.
• Architect scalable AI infra on AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker, EKS, S3).
• Develop offline/online evaluation and drift detection for models.
• Manage inference cost, latency, and resource sizing.
• Implement guardrails, logging, and data governance.
• Promote modern software practices (CI/CD, tests, IaC).
• Mentor engineers and data scientists across teams.
• Lead incident response for AI service outages.
